Earlscroft Farm is a self-catering retreat designed for ease, comfort, and unhurried time. It’s a place to settle in, exhale, and feel at home—whether you’re here for quiet days, long walks, birdwatching, cycling, or simply the pleasure of being somewhere calm and well cared for.
Set in the heart of the Lincolnshire Fens, on the edge of the historic market town of Boston, the cottage is ideally placed for exploring the wider region. The Lincolnshire Wolds, the coast, nature reserves along The Wash, and long, flat cycling routes are all within easy reach, yet the setting itself feels peaceful and spacious, surrounded by farmland and waterways.
Thoughtfully Converted, Gently Finished
The cottage is a sympathetically converted single-storey farm building, designed from the outset to feel light, open, and welcoming. The open-plan living space is bright and generous, with everything you need for cooking, dining, and relaxing without fuss. It’s well equipped rather than showy—set up so the practical side of self-catering feels easy and unobtrusive.
The bedroom is deliberately simple and restful, with a large, comfortable bed, quality bedding, and a sense of quiet that makes sleep come easily. The bathroom is clean-lined and practical, with a roomy bath and a good shower.
Space to Unwind — Indoors and Out
Outside, the cottage has a private, enclosed courtyard garden—a sheltered sun-trap in summer and a reassuringly secure space for guests travelling with dogs. Being genuinely pet-friendly matters to us, and the garden allows dogs to roam safely while you unpack, read, or simply sit and enjoy the stillness.
There is also a private fishing spot adjacent to the property, and open views across the surrounding fenland—a landscape that changes constantly with light, weather, and season.
From Five Stars to Real-World Feedback
When Earlscroft Farm first opened in 2006, Lincolnshire was still relatively under-the-radar as a holiday destination. We knew the area would surprise people, but we also felt the accommodation itself needed to offer reassurance in terms of quality and care. At that time, we were proud to be awarded 5-star self-catering status through Quality in Tourism.
Over the years, both travel habits and rating systems have changed. We no longer follow the Visit Britain star scheme, preferring instead to listen directly to guests and to the steady flow of feedback left via Google Reviews. Those reviews now matter more to us than badges—because they reflect lived experience, not inspection criteria.
Continually Cared For
We regularly update and maintain the cottage, refreshing furnishings, equipment, and outdoor spaces so that everything remains comfortable, functional, and welcoming.
Recent improvements have included a new oil fired heating and hot water system which replaces the previous night-storage heaters, so that now, with a Hive system, the temperature is much more manageable.
In the Autumn of last year we began planting fruit trees at the front of the cottage. We are looking forward to the crops of Victoria Plums, Beth Pears and Gala Apples that guests can help themselves to.
This year our attention will be focused on the courtyard garden, with planting that softens the enclosed area.
What we aim to offer today isn’t “luxury” in the glossy sense, it’s simply care, comfort, calm, and attentiveness to detail.
Earlscroft Farm is a place where people—and their dogs—can feel genuinely at ease. A base for exploring Lincolnshire, and a place to return to with a sense of having been well looked after.
